Create your own dynamic loops with texture and movement

A few weeks ago, we talked about creating your own slicing presets in Ableton Live, a process that allows you to load, manipulate and transform samples easily and almost instantly. Today we’re going to use that preset to show you the possibilities of processing sounds with this kind of workflow.

In the clip below, Dave Sinner slices a sample using this method, quickly creating his own rhythm patterns and easily manipulating the textural and sonal characteristics thanks to the parameters that were mapped to the macro knobs in the former blog post.

By doing this, he manages to get interesting percussion loops that can be quickly modified, automatized and modulated in real time so they perfectly fit the needs of our project.
